2.The quote in paragraph ten is saying that if most people cheat a little bit then something useful to know would be what makes people cheat more often.
3.My favorite quote from this article was "Sadly, it is the kind of small scale mass cheating. not the high profile cases, that is most corrosive to society". This quote is my favorite because it is saying that even though people want to believe that they are morally straight, they are still contributing to the mindset that cheating is OK.
Garret, I think you did a fantastic job paraphrasing the article. I also really like the quote you chose as your favorite; I chose a really similar one. Overall I am baffled by how people (myself included sometimes) justify destructive decision making to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI think that you did real well! I even used yours as an example, so I would know how to do mine. The only critical feedback I have, is on #3. When you use another's quotes in your writing's, you are suppose to use MLA format. So you would need to after the quote, in parentheses list the author of the quote. Next to the author put the page number as well, as the source the quote came from (in italics) like this: (author 234.(italics)->-> qtd. in<-<-(italics), then the name of the book in italics. Don't forget to close the parentheses after the author as well I hope you like my advice! Not to confusing ? Oh! Thanks for getting your assignment done quickly so I had an idea of how to summarize, and paraphrase the article. It's been a while for me, but its all coming back now!
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment on the same thing, Michael. It is really important to give credit to authors when credit is due. I would recommend that you review this link to re-examine the following link, as you will most likely use direct citations and paraphrasing more often than anything else. DeleteHi Garrett. Really nice summary! I still have trouble condensing things beyond a certain point, and this is a really good example. The only thing I think you forgot is your "works cited" section (in text too!). Great job overall, though!
ReplyDeleteBased on the paragraph 10, why do you think people tend to cheat?
